After having their game at home with Belleville East rained out earlier this week, the Wildcats will host the Belleville West at 4:30 at SCHS Field today. Salem is coming off a tough 2-1 loss to Freeburg on Tuesday and will head to Teutopolis on Saturday.
Yesterday, the Salem JV Wildcats beat visiting Carlyle 12-2. The Cats led 3-2 in the bottom of the fourth when they played 9 runs, capped off by a 3-run Rhett Detering long home run to left field to give Salem the 10-run advantage. Braden Rector had 2 hits and drove in 2 along with Cooper Lobek. Ryan Detering and Colton Starnes added RBI. Keaton Gullion singled, walked and scored 2 runs, Jalen Inlow scored 3 times. Cody Beard added a hit and Eli Lograsso scored. Brody Collier was the winning pitcher going the first 3 innings allowing 5 hits and 2 runs. Carter Lowe worked the final 2 innings striking out 3.
In varsity baseball action, Breese Central shuts out Hillsboro 10-0 in five. Zane Schrage with the complete game two-hit shutout with 10 strikeouts. Benny Lehman with 2 hits and 3 runs scored. Cody Dickshot with 2 hits.
