Thurman’s 8th Inning Triple Leads Salem Over OPS
The Salem Lady Cats knocked off a really good Odin/Patoka/Sandoval softball team at Tully Park 6-5 in 8-innings. Lilly Blagoue was the winning pitcher in relief of Makenna Smith. Blagoue struck out 9. Olivia Paulson had 3 hits, Smith and Marah Johnson added 2 hits. Salem scored 5 runs in the 3rd all with 2 outs, Johnson with the game tying 2 run single in the inning. Breanna Thurman was the hero with the walk-off RBI triple in the 8th. For OPS, Lauren Robb had 3 hits including a 2 run homer. Trista Moore had 2 hits while Hailey Lane, Macey Spicer, Amiah Wallace and Carmen Wilderman also added hits. OPS is 6-2 and hosts Dieterich Monday.
SC Hands Visiting Dieterich NTC Loss
South Central improved to 5-2 overall and 2-2 in the National Trail with their 6-3 home win over Dieterich. Taegan Webster earned the win going all 7 allowing 4 hits and 3 earned runs with 10 strikeouts. At the plate, Webster had 2 hits including a home run and drove in 2, Brooklyn Garrett doubled and had 2 RBI. Kaitlyn Swift and Jaylyn Michel added RBI. The SC Lady Cougars will be at home against Newton.
