Salem throwing standout Cole Johnson has signed to continue his Track & Field career at the University of Evansville. Johnson will pursue a degree in nursing.
Johnson told WJBD/WSIQ Sports “For me it was a pretty easy decision because the University was such a fit for me. Every athlete’s goal is to get to the next level and succeed and I feel like UE is the place where I can go through with that.”
Coach Mike Hargis says of Cole, “Cole is a technician. He studies the art of the sport of throwing. He listens well to his throw Coach Sherry Hargis. He works toward the goals he has set for himself. These attributes and other positive work habits will allow him to move to the next level. As an athlete and specially and more importantly as a student.
Johnson is coming off a junior season that saw him qualify for the State Finals in the discus. He has started his season off very well throwing the shot and discus with big expectations as he finishes up his senior year.
