Salem Mayor Nic Farley has declared a State of Emergency and established a curfew for the area hit hardest by the Friday night tornado.
The area includes East Blair and Lake Streets between Broadway and Marion as well as Lake Street to Wells Street between College and Broadway.
The curfew is in effect from seven Saturday night until seven Sunday morning.
Farley is encouraging all citizens to adhere to the curfew and avoid any non-essential travel or outdoor activities within the designated areas. Violations of the curfew may be subject to penalties as outlined in the City of Salem ordinances.
Farley says the action is being taken to maintain the safety and security of the city’s residents.
