The Salem Lady Cats bounced back from their first loss of the year on Wednesday to beat Columbia 4-2 in 8 innings and improve to 5-1 on the season and 2-0 in the Cahokia Conference. Makenna Smith had the go ahead RBI in the 8th. Lilly Blagoue was tremendous in the circle getting the win striking out 14. Breanna Thurman and Lauren Burge also added RBI. Salem will travel to Odin/Patoka/Sandoval this afternoon weather permitting.
The OPS Lady Eagles used 15 hits to beat Webber 18-2. Rheagan Rollinson had 3 hits, Lauren Robb had 2 including a 3-run homer. Also with 2 hits each was Kenzie Wilkerson, Macey Spicer, Maddie Garrett and Carmen Wilderman. Spicer was the winning pitcher as the Eagles are 5-0 overall and 3-0 in MTC play.
South Central improved to 3-1 with a 14-2 win over Bethany on the road. Kaitlyn Swift had 2 hits and 2 RBI, Taegan Webster homered and drove in 6 runs, Brooklyn Garrett had 3 hits including a home run and drove in 3. SC is scheduled to host Carlyle and OPS tomorrow.
