Salem Shuts Out OPS, Head To Columbia Today…SC Knocks Off Vandalia

Salem improved to 3-4 on the season yesterday with a 7-0  win over visiting Odin/Patoka/Sandoval.  The Cats got the offense going early when Noah Nix hit a 3-run homer to deep right field.  The Cats would add on with 4 more in the fifth for some insurance.  Josh Powless had a great day with 3 hits including 2 triples and Isaak Williams also tripled.  Williams drove in 3 runs, Eli Rose added one.  Drew Davis was the winning pitcher going 5 innings allowing 4 hits and struck out 6.  Williams got the final 6 outs.  The Wildcats will be right back at it today in Cahokia Conference play at Columbia who is also 1-0 in the league after Tuesday’s win over Wood River.

South Central traveled to Vandalia and earned a 5-4 victory over the Vandals.  Driving in Cougar runs were Anthony Buonaura, Brody Markley and Andrew Magnus.  Aidan Dodson added a hit and scored a pair.  Ethan Watwood was the winning pitcher with Buonaura earning the save.  The SC Cougars are 4-0 as they host St Elmo/Brownstown.  They also have added a game for Monday as they will head to Newton for a 4:30 start.

The Centralia Orphans fell to Flora 5-3.
