Centralia Fairview Park Pool Committee met on Tuesday and unanimously voted to recommend the demolition of the current Fairview Park Pool to the city council.  This is regardless of whatever Burbach Aquatics’ findings may be on the construction of a new pool.  The old non-operational pool is considered a safety hazard.

Burbach, the company that is currently contracted by the city council last month to study the need and amenities of the new pool project, is beginning phase 1 step 2 of their agenda which will involve surveying local pools to better understand amenities and costs.

Centralia Economic Development Director Derrick Sherman says the next pool committee meeting will be on April 11th at 5:00 pm and a representative from Burbach will be present to answer questions.

“They are going to hopefully come to the upcoming meeting in April and I’m hoping they will go over some rough ideas of what potential amenities would come if we decided to do another aquatic facility or maybe also some dimensions on how big of a facility we could possibly have here in Centralia.”

The pool committee is charged with making a recommendation to the city council if the city should pursue construction of a new outside pool.
