The Wildcats boys track and field team traveled to the campus of Principia College for the Edwardsville Tigers Invitational Indoor meet. The meet featured 16 high schools mostly from the metro east area. The Wildcats Caleb Smith put up another personal best in the shot put with a shot put toss of 17.70 meters (58′ 1″). Smith placed 2nd in the event. Cole Johnson had a toss of 13.03 meters. In the fresh soph division Morgan placed 8th with a toss of 11.49 for a personal best and his freshman teammate Darryll Kaufman also had a personal best of 10.65 meters good for best. In the 60 meter dashes, Miking Ettress placed 7th overall in the F/S division with a time of 7.48.
Carson Huggins finished with a time of 7.92 and Angel Salgado had a time of 7.95. On the varsity side Jervace Mayes had the best time for the Cats on varsity side in a time of 7.53, followed by Sean Thorton in 7.55 and Sam Greene in a time of 7.77. In the 200 meters Sean Thorton was 12th with a time of 24.63. Caylan Patterson covered the 400 meter distance in 60.71. The 1600 meter race saw freshmen Robbie Shober and Hunter Malans both putting up personal best times. Shober broke the 5 miniute barrier with a time of 4:58 and Malan covered the distance in 5 minutes and 13 seconds. Huggins was 15th in the 60M hurdles in a time of 10.94 seconds. In the long jump Ettress was 6th with jump of 6.07 meters, while Mayes hop, skip, and jump too 11.37 meters in the triple jump. in the 4×4 F/S relay team of Ettress, Patterson, Malan, and A. Salgado broke the 4 minute barrier with a team time of 3.59 good for 8th place finish. The Wildcats open up the the outdoor season with a home meet on March 23rd.
