Marion County has fallen back to the low level of community infection for COVID-19.
The CDC COVID-19 tracker reports 50 new or probable cases of COVID-19 for the week ending Wednesday. That’s a 44-percent drop. Marion County reported four new hospitalizations.
Marion County Health Department Administrator Melissa Mallow reported no additional deaths related to COVID-19 in the past week. The number of congregate care facilities on outbreak status has fallen to two. One has 11 positive cases and the other has 68 positive cases.
Two area counties remain at the medium level of infection. They are Jefferson and Wayne. Jefferson County had 4 new cases of COVID-19 reported in the week ending Wednesday, down seven percent from the prior week. There were three new hospitalizations. Wayne County had 10 new cases, a nine-percent drop. There were two new hospitalizations.
Clinton, Washington, Fayette, and Clay Counties remain at the low transmission level. Clinton County had 22 new cases in the week ending Wednesday, a 35-percent drop. There were two new hospitalizations. Washington County had five new cases, a 37-percent decline, and one new hospitalization. Fayette County had 11 new cases, an eight-percent decline. The number of new hospitalizations was not available. Clay County had nine new cases and one new hospitalization.
Statewide, 10,320 new confirmed and probable cases of COVID-19 have been reported for the week ending March 5th. There were 45 new COVID-19-related deaths during the week. The number of counties at the elevated community level increased from 14 to 26, but all 26 are at the medium level.
As of Thursday night, 880 individuals in Illinois were reported to be in the hospital with COVID-19. Of those, 102 patients were in the ICU and 33 patients with COVID-19 were on ventilators.
