Next week is opening week for the IHSA Spring sports seasons.
Coach Brian Lipe and the Salem Wildcats baseball team will be in action at Mount Vernon to open their season on Tuesday.
The Salem Lady Wildcats will open up their highly anticipated softball season at home on Tuesday when they host Triad. They will then host Benton on Thursday before traveling to the Fairfield Tournament next weekend.

The South Central Cougars are scheduled to open up baseball season on Monday at Cowden Herrick. They will follow that up with a home game next Friday against Christ Our Rock.
Odin/Patoka softball will get underway at home Monday against Elverado. They will follow that up with Tuesday at Centralia, Wednesday hosting Christ Our Rock, Thursday at Dieterich and Friday at home against Carlyle.
The SC Lady Cougars will open Tuesday at home against Oblong before traveling to Okaw Valley on Friday.
