The East St Louis Flyers had a lead in the 2nd half, but Metamora capitalized on great sets late to earn a 50-43 victory. In the first game of the day, Chicago Simeon impressed with their 60-42 win over St Ignatius Prep. Last night, East St Louis did win the 3rd place game in Class 3a, 50-48 over St Ignatius.
Lisle Benet Academy won the 4a semifinal 64-49 over New Trier and advances to play Moline after their 50-36 win over Downers Grove North. In the 3rd place game last night, New Trier won 53-34.
The day begins today with the 1a state title game at 11:00 with Waterloo Gibault and Scales Mound. That will be followed by the 2a title game with DePaul College Prep and Bloomington Central Catholic.
The 3a game will be Simeon and Metamora tonight at 5:30. That will be followed by the 4a title game with Lisle Benet Academy and Moline at 7:15.
