The Wildcats traveled to the campus of SIU-C for their second indoor meet of the season.
The Wildcats had a very good day with the shot putters leading the way. Caleb Smith won the shot with a put of 55’9.75″, teammate Cole Johnson was 6th with a distance of 45’5″, a new personal best. Jr Max Ambuhl also had a personal best throw of 34′ 3/4″ toss.
The field events continued to have a good day, with all 3 Salem’s long jumpers making the finals, when the sand cleared, Sean Thorton was 4th with a leap of 20′ 1/4″, Miking Ettress was 5th with a 19’10 1/4″ jump and Jervace Mayes had season best leap of 19′ 1/2″. Freshman Austin Wooldrige placed 7th in the high jump with a clear of 5’5″.
On the track Ettress set a new school record in the 60M dash, covering the distances in 7.39 seconds, placing him in the finals, where he finished 11th. Both Thorton and Mayes were under the 8 second mark for the 60 meters. Freshman hurdler Carson Huggins had a personal best of 10.68 seconds in the 60 meter hurdles. Hunter Malan improved his time in the 3200 meters crossing the finish line in 11 minutes and 25 seconds. Caylan Patterson had a personal best in the 400 meter dash with a time of 63 seconds. Also Robbie Shober drop his 1600 meter time to a personal best of 5:01.79.
The Wildcats travel to Principia College on Friday March 10th for a indoor meet hosted by Edwardsville High School.
