Gatewood Jr Lifts Meridian Over Wayne City…Breese Central Cruises To Sectional Finals…Mount Vernon Falls To Triad

Roderick Gatewood Jr recently scored his 2000^th career point at Meridian High School.  The 3 biggest points of his career came last night as he hit a three in the corner as time expired while being triple teamed to lift Meridian to a 67-66 victory over Wayne City.  Meridian will advance to the Sectional Finals tomorrow at Junction when they get Webber.

At Altamont, Tuscola knocked off St Anthony 48-45 to advance to the finals where they will get Altamont.  Tuscola has a win over the Indians earlier this season in a game where they hit double digit three pointers to pull off the upset.

Madison’s season came to an end at Hardin Calhoun with their 49-48 loss to Springfield Calvary.

In 2a, Breese Central advanced to the Sweet 16 as they knocked off Carterville in the Pinckneyville Sectional semifinals 56-33.  Cody Dickshot led the Cougars with 20, Chase Lewis added 13 points and 9 rebounds.  Breese Central will take on the host Panthers tomorrow night for a trip to the Elite 8.

Caleb Siemer had 20 points and 15 rebounds, Brendan Niebrugge added 17 points as Teutopolis eliminated Alton Marquette 54-28.  They advance to take on Lawrenceville Friday in the sectional finals.

At the Centralia 3a Sectionals, Triad beat Mount Vernon for the 2^nd time this year with their 51-34 victory.  The Knights will get East St Louis tomorrow at Trout Arena.
