It’s the opening night of the Sectionals in prep basketball. In Class 1a at Altamont, the 28-4 Altamont Indians will host Casey Westfield who enters at 19-10. The winner will advance to Friday’s final against the winner of tomorrow’s game of Tuscola at 27-6 and St Anthony who is 22-12.
At Gallatin County, 22-11 Webber will take on the 15-14 hosts tonight with Wayne City taking their 26-7 record to Sectionals for the first time since 1994 playing tomorrow night against 22-12 Meridian.
In 2a sectionals at Pinckneyville tonight it’s the hosts Panthers entering at 26-6 taking on Massac County at 25-6. Tomorrow night 28-4 Breese Central will take on Carterville who is 26-6.
At Newton tonight, 21-11 Greenville will take on 25-8 Lawrenceville. Tomorrow night it’s 25-7 Teutopolis playing Marquette at 21-12.
At the 3a Centralia Sectional tonight, the Centralia Orphans will come in at 25-6 trying to knock off powerhouse East St Louis who is 22-8. Tomorrow the Mount Vernon Rams at 22-8 will take on 27-6 Triad.
Tonight at the 4a Moline Sectional, 24-7 O’Fallon will take on Quincy who is 26-4 followed by 30-3 Moline hosting 20-13 Normal.
