Salem Police say an officer was injured when a homeless man resisted being arrested after police tried to remove him from under a bridge in the 400 block of North Jefferson Street where he had been staying under the Town Creek Bridge.
Police say 23-year-old Ivan Weibrecht had first been trespassed from the area of the bridge last October. Reports indicate when he was asked to leave just before ten Tuesday night he refused to cooperate and resisted the officer who tried to handcuff him.
Weibrecht was taken to the Marion County jail after being arrested for aggravated battery to a police officer, resisting arrest, and criminal trespass to land.
Salem Police say the officer was treated at Salem Township Hospital for a knee injury.
