The National Weather Service will be in Salem Tuesday night to teach a storm spotter class.

Salem Emergency Management Agency Coordinator Terry Mulvaney says the program will be at the Salem Community Activity Center cafeteria at 6:30 Tuesday evening.

“This is open to the public.  Anybody interested in the weather is welcome to attend.  If they would like to participate in a spotters program or work with the National Weather Service as a volunteer to report tornados, flash floods, wind damage, hail, snow and helps the weather service in addition to their radar system.  And gives them an idea of what the radar is actually showing.”

Mulvaney says the weather service only comes to Salem on average once every two years, so there won’t be another opportunity for a few years to take the weather course.
