Coach Jay Jenkins and the Blue Angels basketball program at Kaskaskia College has come a long way since he began his tenure in the 2018-19 season. That year was a complete start over for the program as Coach Jenkins found himself with 5 players on the team at the end of the season with a total of 4 wins.
Fast forward 5 years later, and the Blue Angels just won their 17th game of the season at Millikin JV in their last game. And with 2 games left on their schedule to improve their Region seed before the post season begins March 5th at Lake Land College in Mattoon.
KC currently sits 6th in the Region tied with Rend Lake at 7-7 and just one game out of the 3rd spot where SWIC sits at 8-5 and Shawnee in 4th at 7-5. Everyone is chasing Wabash who is 13-0 in the Region and 24-1 overall as they have secured the top seed. Vincennes is #2 at 11-2 and 18-8 overall.
The Blue Angels will return to play Wednesday at Olney Central before wrapping up the regular season with sophomore night Saturday, February 25th at 1pm against Shawnee that could be huge in post season seedings for KC.
No matter what happens the rest of the year, the future is bright for the program under head coach Jay Jenkins.
