Marion County Circuit Clerk Tiffany Schicker is seeking a nearly $300,000 grant through the Illinois Court Technology Modernization program.

She told the county board if any of the county offices tied to the court system were in need of improvements she would try and have dollars available.

Schitker is concentrating on the third-story courtrooms at the courthouse.

“This grant includes installing speakers, and assisted listening devices and I would like some wireless microphones.”

Schicker wants all the equipment to enhance the Zoom court hearing system.  She says the equipment should also allow those in the courtroom to hear what is being said easier.

Schicker reports she is nearing the $200,000 mark prior to this application for technology upgrades.  She is hoping to hear something on the grant request next month.

In other action, Marion County Sheriff Kevin Cripps reported the county is currently holding 83 prisoners, including 29 for the federal court system and one juvenile.
