Centralia Police Chief Christopher Locke has released information on calls for service and crime stats for 2022.
Locke hopes by sharing the information they are taking a positive step toward improving transparency and their bond and partnership with the community.
“I think the one thing you can look at is the proactive stance the officers took with the vehicle stops. I think you can arguably say that certainly stands as a deterrent to crime and criminal activity. That is one thing that definitely stood out. And of course, we will always work to improve the community and police partnerships since we are all in this together to try and solve crimes and things of that nature as we move forward into the next year. ”
There were a total of 21,566 Centralia Police computer-aided dispatch transactions as well as a total of 34,085 dispatches handled for all departments through the 911 center.
Among the key comparisons between 2022 and the prior year:
- Criminal sexual abuse cases remained the same in both years at 23 each year
- Burglaries dropped from 129 to 67
- Felony thefts increase from 39 to 60
- Stolen vehicles dropped from 63 to 51
- Robberies dropped from 22 to 8
- Aggravated assault/batteries (non-domestic) dropped from 113 to 107.
- Domestic violence calls increased from 96 to 101

Locke says he can say without hesitation after watching the men and women of the department over the last three or four months he can assure everyone day in and day out they work very hard to make a positive impact on the city with the safety of the city’s residents and visitors in mind. Lucke says he is very happy to be part of the team and is looking forward to a productive year to come.
