A Centralia Church is hoping to provide 1,000 meals on Christmas Day.
The Pastor of the Crossroads Church Ronnie Tabor says this is the second year they have worked with the Orphan Smokehouse on the dinner.
“Last year in 2021 Christmas we partnered together and had the opportunity to deliver about 700 meals. This year our goal is to get to 1000. Its been a great experience last year and this is a way for anyone who doesn’t have the ability to get a Christmas dinner we can deliver to their house or they can stop by the church and get it on Christmas day.”
Tabor expects 100 volunteers will put the meal of smoked ham, mashed potatoes, a vegetable, roll and Christmas Cookie together.
“A great experience from children that participated to the families. Sometimes you think on Christmas day they would be preoccupied but it was amazing to see all the volunteers show up and excitement they had coming back from delivering the meals.”
While the meals are open to anyone who wishes to receive one, in order to prepare you must make a reservation by 11 Friday night. To register, you can go to the Crossroads Church Facebook page or follow this link to the registration form.
Those who would like to volunteer are invited to meet at the church at 340 Walnut Hill Road on the southeast side of Centralia at noon on Christmas Day. The meals will be delivered between one and three Christmas Day.
