Estel Deon Allison, 79, of Iuka, passed away on Monday, December 11, 2023, at his home.
He was born March 29, 1944, in Iuka, Illinois, the son of Glen and Charlotte (Jones) Allison. On July 20, 1962, in Iuka, he married Myrtle Halfacre, and she survives.
Deon was a good Christian man and was a member of Donoho Prairie Christian Church. He previously served as a deacon at New Liberty General Baptist Church for several years. He worked for Egyptian Concrete for 20 years, and also worked his own farm, with his wife of 61 years by his side. Deon also served as Romine Township Road Commissioner for 24 years. He had an infectious laugh, and was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.
In addition to his wife, Myrtle Allison, he is survived by three children, Cathy Bennett and husband Tracy of Orchardville, Lyndell Allison and wife Tania of Texico, and Brenda Archer and husband Terry of Iuka; six grandchildren, Derek Bennett and wife Rebecca of Mt. Vernon, Dylan Bennett and wife Hannah of Orchardville, Rachel Robinson and husband Jeff of McLeansboro, Noah Allison and partner Stephen Dowdy of Centralia, Ashley Thompson and husband Kevin of Mt. Vernon, and Isaiah Archer and wife Ashley of Odin; eight great-grandchildren, Ogden Bennett, Elouisa Bennett, Theo Bennett, Etta Fornwalt, Declan Thompson, Sawyer Bennett, Oliver Archer, Rayna Thompson, and one great-grandchild on the way; siblings, Kay Veller, and Brad Allison and wife Sue; and sister-in-law, Lenora Allison; and several nieces and nephews. He was also a special grandpa to DNayzia Archer, Gavin Archer, and Mahealani Archer.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Glen and Charlotte Allison; two brothers, Hubert Allison, and Doval Allison.
In accordance with his wishes, cremation rites for Mr. Allison have been accorded, and a celebration of his life will be held at 12:00 p.m. (noon), on Friday, December 15, 2023, at Donoho Prairie Christian Church. Visitation will be held Friday, December 15, 2023, from 10:00 a.m. until the hour of service, at the church.
