The Centralia City School Board has approved a 6.97-percent increase in their property tax levy following a Truth in Taxation hearing at its monthly meeting Tuesday night.
The hearing was required because the increase was over 4.99-percent.
Superintendent Craig Clark noted that assessed valuation in the district is up by over 10-percent so the district’s actual tax rate should remain the same or be lower than what appeared on this year’s bill.
The board also approved a resolution that abated tax levies intended to pay debt service on the General Obligation School Bonds of 2018 and 2019.
Also reviewed in the meeting were letters of resignation and a potential employment.
The following letters of resignation were not accepted:
-Lori Klostermann, Special Education Teacher
-Tanisha Bernard, Kindergarten Teacher
-April Snow, Special Education Teacher
The following letter of recognition was accepted:
-Amanda Corryel, Mental Health Support
The following consideration of employment was approved:
-Guy Williams, Central Middle School Custodian
