2023 12/14 – Viola Donoho

Viola “Vi” Donoho, age 97 of Centralia, passed away on Sunday, December 10, 2023, at Heritage Woods in Centralia.

She was born on October 20, 1926, in Marion County, Illinois the daughter of the late Rev. Alfred and Ethel (Michael) Meador.  She married Eldon Donoho on February 25, 1947, in Centralia and he preceded her in death on June 3, 1988.

Survivors include three sons, Lyle Donoho and wife Pat of Centralia, Louis Donoho and wife Debbie of China Grove, NC and Roger Donoho and wife Missy of Walnut Hill; two daughters, Barbara Schnake and husband Larry of Lafeyette, IN and Diann Payne of Centralia; one sister, Mildred Dial of Iuka; one brother-in-law, Jerry Donoho of Salem; thirteen grandchildren, Dena Fields and husband Ron of Brookston, IN, Kevin Schnake and wife Melissa of Jeanette, PA, Tina Stevenson and husband Scott, Kim Cook and husband Kris, Heather  Knowles and husband David, all of Centralia; Stephanie Roper and husband LeeRoy of Odin, Jenny Decker and husband Michael of Salem, Scott Donoho and wife Karen of LaGrange, Kristen Broeckling and husband Eric of Mt. Ulla, NC, Brian Donoho, Steven Donoho, Jeffrey Donoho and Curtis Donoho all of Walnut Hill; fifteen great-grandchildren, Elizabeth, Samantha, and Chelsea Fields, Graysen and Jaryn Stevenson, Daven and Kolton Cook, Griffin Knowles, Ashlyn Donoho, Wyatt Decker, Landon and Lee Donoho, and Addison, Eva and Cole Broeckling; and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by three sisters, Vernie Howard, Velma Richards, and Opal Hawkins; one brother, Ernie Meador; and a son-in-law, Dale Payne.

Viola enjoyed attending The Rock Church in Centralia where she was a member.  She loved reading her Bible and daily devotional readings.  Her pastime was doing word search books and watching St. Louis Cardinals baseball.  She loved her family very much and treasured the time she was able to spend with them.

The family wishes to extend a special thank you to the staff at Heritage Woods of Centralia for their excellent care while Viola was a resident.

Funeral services for Viola Donoho will be held at 2:00 pm on Thursday, December 14, 2023, at Crouse Funeral Home in Salem with Pastor Steve Upchurch officiating.  Burial will be in Palestine Cemetery on Route 161 extension.  Visitation will be on Wednesday, from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm at the funeral home.  In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Palestine Cemetery and will be received at the funeral home.  Online condolences can be left at www.CrouseFH.com.
