Marion County is back to the low level for COVID-19 community spread.
The CDC Tracker reports for the week ending Thursday there were 44 new cases, a 7-percent increase, along with three new hospital admissions.
Marion County Health Department Administrator Melissa Mallow reports there were no additional COVID-19-related deaths in the past week. She says there are four Marion County congregate care facilities in outbreak status. One facility has 32 cases, another 16, a third 15, and the fourth facility has two positive cases.
Clinton, Jefferson, Washington, and Wayne Counties are all now at the low level of transmission, with Fayette and Clay Counties at the medium levels.
Clinton County had a three-percent increase in cases during the past week with 32 reported along with two new admissions. There were 69 new cases in Jefferson County, a 6-percent increase, with three new hospital admissions. Washington County had 18 new cases, a 64-percent increase, with one new admission. Fayette County saw a 188-percent increase with 46 new cases as well as two new admissions pushing them into the medium spread category. Clay County had 53 new cases, an 89-percent increase, but no new hospitalizations. Wayne County had a 55-percent increase in cases to 31 and one new hospitalization.
The Illinois Department of Public Health reports COVID-19 and other respiratory viruses are continuing to rise across Illinois following the Thanksgiving holiday. There are now 29 counties at the high spread level and 45 at the medium spread level. In total, 21,404 new confirmed and probable cases of COVID-19 were reported in Illinois since December 2nd along with 56 deaths.
As of Thursday night, 1,582 individuals were in the hospital. 188 patients were in the ICU and 69 patients with COVID-19 were on ventilators.
