The Salem Fire Protection District’s Fireman of the year is Brody Meigs.
The surprise announcement was made at the Salem Fire Department’s annual Christmas Party by Fire Trustees President Mike Squibb.
Meigs has been a member of the department for three years.
“Ever since I was a kid I dreamed about becoming a firefighter. Actually, I graduated early from SCHS to become a firefighter. It’s been among the three best three years of my life. I really enjoy what I do.”
And what does he like best?
“I’m been very blessed with good training opportunities within the fire department. They offer a wide scale fire training. Some of my favorites are auto extrication and just some structural fire training.”
As far as the future….
“Continue to be a firefighter. That’s what I like to do and I hope to stick with it.”
Meigs is also appreciative of fellow firefighters who voted to give him the honor of Firefighter of the Year.
The fire department honored Travis Nix (71%), Jim Bryant (72%), Jake Heminover (72%), Andrew Dice (83%), and Greg Miller (83%) as the top responders of the year.
Richard Follett and Gregory Miller both received 15-year pins, Glenn Benzing, Jacob Heminover, and Justin Montgomery 10-year pins, Jarrod Burner, Seth Dawson and Rusty Jourdan five-year pins, and Ryan Meador and Brody Meigs three-year pins.
