2023 12/09 – Hurel Lee Boyd

Hurel Lee Boyd was born on October 23, 1962, to Lettie Mae Jelks of Brownsville, TN.  He was raised by his adoptive parents George and Willie Sue Boyd.

He attended Haywood High School, where he graduated with the Class of 1981.  In 1984, he moved with his sister Leddie Jean Baltimore to Carlyle, IL.  Hurel had many jobs.  He worked at a rail bearing company, KFC, and The Breese Journal.

Hurel was preceded in death by his biological parents, Leddie Mae and LC Jenks, and his adoptive parents George and Willie Sue Boyd, and he had one deceased sister, Leddie Baltimore.

He leaves to cherish his memories: his wife, Mary Killion Boyd, he has 3 children from Brownsville, TN, Maurice (Shaunda) Pugh, De Saundrea (Cornelle) Douglas, Hurel Lee  (Jessica) Boyd, Jr.; from Rockford, IL, Michelle Smith and Cas Sandra Smith; Gregory (Shyanna) Boyd of Centralia; Lametria Smith of Mt. Vernon; Chris Smith of Granite City, IL; Natasha Holloway of Centralia; Elizabeth Eubanks of Albers, IL.  Saranitea “Bunny” Boyd is deceased.  Hurel had 22 grandchildren.  His siblings were Sandra Boyd of Brownsville, TN, Renderinet (the late Ricky) Walker of Mt. Vernon, and Andrew Walker of Carlyle, IL.  Hurel has 2 aunts, Elnora Turner and Dorothy Davis of Brownsville, TN.

He was known as Fox, G unit Triple OJ. He was loved by everyone.  Hurel had a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.

The funeral service will be held at Holy Garden of Prayer Church, 430 21st St, Carlyle, IL 62231, on Saturday, December 9, 2023, at 1:00 PM.  Visitation will be held at Holy Garden of Prayer Church before the service from 10:00 AM – 1:00 PM.  Services directed by Zieren Funeral Home, www.ZierenFuneralHome.com.
