A 52-year-old Salem woman has been formally charged in Marion County Court for aggravated cruelty to an animal.
Salem Police say Angela Clark of East Boone Street was arrested in connection with a December 2nd incident when a Salem Public Works employee saw a dead dog in a dog house at her home.
Salem Police and Animal Control were called because the dog appeared to have been malnourished. After Clark claimed to have fed the dog the night before, the dog was taken to a veterinarian for a necropsy. It found the dog had no food in its stomach, appeared not to have eaten for seven to ten days and died from starvation more than 24 hours before the dog had been found.
Judge Mark Stedelen agreed to release Clark on $5,000 personal recognicance bond provided she not own or possess any domestic animal. The public defender was appointed to represent her.
