Marion County’s new Sheriff Kevin Cripps has announced two promotions.

Deputy Jordan JJ Johnson will move to the role of Detective.  He began his career at the sheriff’s department in 2016 as a part-time Corrections Officer, became full-time in 2018, and was promoted to Deputy Sheriff in 2020.

Deputy Tyler Parker has been promoted to the rank of Sergeant.  He was been with the sheriff’s office since 2014.  He started as a Corrections Officer and was promoted to Deputy Sheriff in 2015.   Parker began his law enforcement career with the Odin Police Department in 2007.  He was also a patrolman-Police Chief for the City of Kinmundy and is currently serving as Chief of Police in Alma.

Cripps held both the detective position and Sargeant before taking office as sheriff.

Cripps says he will soon hire a new deputy for the new courthouse position.  The position was recently approved by the Marion County Board.  The deputy will join the correctional officer working the security desk at the east entrance to the courthouse.
