2024 12/05 – John Allen Hogan

John Allen Hogan, age 55 years, a resident of rural Tunnel Hill and a former resident of Alma, Illinois, passed away Wednesday morning, November 29, 2023, at 10:28 AM at Franklin Hospital in Benton, Illinois.

John was born July 31, 1968 in Salem, Illinois. He was the son of Dennis and Charlotte (Lingle) Osborne.

On July 21, 1990, John was united in marriage to Kim Chance in New Burnside, Illinois. She survives.

In addition to his wife, John is also survived by: his parents – Dennis & Charlotte Osborne of Alma; 2 sons – Luke (his wife, Racheal) Hogan and Reed Hogan all of Tunnel Hill; a daughter-in-law – Augusta Hogan of Karnak; 3 grandchildren – Axel Huckelberry, Elijah Hogan, and Marshall Hogan all of Tunnel Hill; his siblings – Todd (his wife, Missy) Hogan, Tiffany (her husband, Edgar) Hunter all of Iuka, Rita (her husband, Bob) Chlebek and Marilyn (her husband, Tim) O’Shea all of Oak Forest; his father-in-law & mother-in-law – Herbert and Patsy Chance of Ozark.

John was preceded in death by a son – Matthew Hogan; his grandparents – Cecil and Irene Lingle & Warren and Anna Osborne; and a nephew – Wesley Hunter.

John was a 1986 graduate of Kinmundy-Alma High School. Since 1995, John has been the owner/operator of H&H Pest Control and Excavating Co.

John was an avid outdoorsman. He enjoyed mountain biking, riding motorcycles, as well as fishing with his son, Reed, and his grandchildren.

A memorial service honoring the life of John Hogan will be held Tuesday afternoon, December 5, 2023, at 5 PM at the Overlook Bluff, 3755 State Route 37 North, Buncombe, Illinois. Brother Ken Hall will officiate. Family remarks will be shared by Todd Hogan, John’s brother.

The family will receive relatives and friends from 3 PM – 5 PM Tuesday at Overlook Bluff.

Those attending the service are encouraged to bring a lawn chair and to dress casually and comfortably.
