The Odin Village Board has decided not to take any action for at least a few months on new liquor licenses for video gaming facilities and restaurants because of concerns being expressed privately to board members against the expansion.
At a special board meeting Thursday night, the board agree to charge $750 a year plus $25 per gaming machine for the liquor license that would specifically allow video gaming. No price determination was made for the new liquor license for restaurants that would require 51-percent of sales be made in food.
While no one was at the meeting in opposition, board members all said they had heard complaints from the community. They are now hoping those against the licenses will come to the next few meetings to express their concerns before a final decision is made. Several maintained frustration that discussion of the issue was taking place at other places in town, but not at village board meetings where it should be taking place.
Some board members noted if they don’t create the new licenses the village will be losing much needed revenue to complete improvement projects.
