Early in the morning of Nov. 25, 2023, Ethel Mae Lash, 104, was welcomed into her heavenly home. She was living at Copper Trace Nursing Facility in Westfield, Indiana.
Ethel was born on July 31, 1919, in Lander, Wyoming, the daughter of Irvin and Calla “Callie” Burge. She was the youngest of five children.
Keith Lash and Ethel eloped to Missouri to be married on December 27, 1938. This union was blessed with three daughters, Kay (deceased), Patricia (Joe) Hanley of Effingham, IL, and Trudy (Lyn) Grandt of Fishers, Indiana. Her life was further enriched with 8 grandchildren: Tim (Mitzi) Loy, Kim (Dan) Cousineau, Kerry (Allison) Loy, Michael (Tiffany) Lotz, Jon (Courtney) Lotz, Corey (Katie) Lotz, Amber (Tim) Backie, Autumn (Charlie) Dalton and 1 step-grandchild. Added blessings came with 20 great-grandchildren, 4 step-great-grandchildren, 7 great-great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-great-grandchild.
Ethel was truly an inspiration, a wonderful loving Christian woman with a fervent devotion to her family and a smidgen of stubbornness.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, December 1, 2023, at 11:00 am at the Farina United Methodist Church, 311 Jackson St. Farina, Illinois, with Pastor Kevin Kreisel officiating. Visitation will be held Friday from 10:00 am until the time of the service at the church. In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made to the donor’s choice and will be accepted at the Sutherland-Rankin Funeral Home, 310 N. Broadway, P.O.
