Marvin Lee Elkins, Jr., 72, of Salem, passed away Thursday, November 23, 2023, at his home.He was born December 1, 1950, in Las Cruces, New Mexico, the son of Marvin L. Elkins, Sr. and Violet P. (Duncan) Elkins.Lee is survived by his wife of 31 years, Jan (Niepoetter) Elkins of Salem, two sons: Scott Stelzriede and wife Denise of Denver, Colorado and Bryan Stelzriede and wife Tanya of Aurora, Colorado; four grandchildren: Maya, Simon, Avery, and Bristol; mother-in-law: Emma Niepoetter of Centralia; sister-in-law: Joan Gannon and husband Daniel “Goose” of Centralia; three brothers-in-law: Jim Niepoetter of Centralia, Jeff Niepoetter and wife Kathy of Centralia, and Jay Niepoetter and wife Louise of College Park, Maryland; and several nieces and nephews.He was preceded in death by his parents: Marvin and Violet Elkins, sister: Erain Lanza, father-in-law: Bill Niepoetter, and sister-in-law: Joyce (Niepoetter) Tyler.Lee worked for the United States Postal Service for 29 years until his retirement. He enjoyed studying Astrology, looking through the telescope at the stars, photography, metal detecting, and gardening. He was an avid Denver Broncos fan and he made sure to watch all of their football games.Lee was a devoted husband, father, son-in-law, brother-in-law, and friend. He will be missed dearly by his family.   Loved and respected by many.
