Gloria Ann Welker, age 93 of Salem, passed away peacefully on Sunday, November 19, 2023, at SSM Health Good Samaritan Hospital in Mt. Vernon.
Gloria was born on April 21, 1930, in Alma the daughter of Marshall and Nellie (Nichols) Williams. She married Gerald Chasteen and he preceded her in death, she then married Murvel Dale Welker on March 19, 1960, and he preceded her in death on June 8, 1982.
Survivors include her son, Jerry Chasteen and wife Connie of Kinmundy; grandchildren, Stephanie Kelsheimer and husband Ronnie, Jeremy Chasteen and wife Danielle and Matthew Silas Chasteen; and seven great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two husbands; brother, James Williams; and two sisters, Leah Vallow and Sue Swift.
Gloria was a member of the Alma Christian Church for many years. She began her career at the Alma Post Office and retired from the Salem Post Office after 31 years of service. She will be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother, and friend.
Graveside services for Gloria Ann Welker will be held on Wednesday, November 22, 2023, at 11:00 am at East Lawn Cemetery in Salem with Randy VanAusdall officiating. The time to visit with the family will be from 10:30 until the time of the service at the cemetery.
