June Marie “Kay” Rouse, 95, of Dix, passed away on Tuesday, November 7, 2023, at SSM Health Good Samaritan Hospital in Mt. Vernon.
She was born on June 25, 1928, in Mundelein, Illinois, the second of six, to Libbie Jean (Mills) and George Harden Rouse. She loved America, living in Louisiana, New Mexico, California, New York, and Florida. Over twenty years ago, she settled in Jefferson County, first in Bluford, and later, Dix.
Kay was still an avid learner, reading any paper, book, or magazine available. She was a devoted Christian, enjoying bible study at Otterbein United Methodist Church, and visiting many area churches. Possessing a strong body and alert mind, she was still looking for someone to lend her a car to take the road test and renew her driver’s license.
She is survived by her daughter, Ruth Rymal, and son-in-law, Tracy Lynn of Clearwater, Florida; younger sisters, Louise Reidenbach of Beloit, Wisconsin, and Alice Doyle of Murfreesboro, Tennessee; many nieces and nephews; and innumerable church friends.
