Odin Village Board drafting ordinance to allow liquor licenses for restaurants and video gaming

The Odin Village Board at its meeting Thursday night agreed to develop liquor licenses for restaurants and video gaming.

Village Attorney Brian Merrell was instructed to draft ordinances with the cost of the licenses and fees for each video gaming machine still to be determined.   Board members wanted to check with a few surrounding communities to see what rates they are charging.

The board has been approached by a restaurant about adding liquor.  The operator of a video gaming facility in a nearby community earlier addressed the board about possibly opening in Odin.  He is willing to fence in an area if outdoor activities were added at a later time.  The restaurant license would require at least 51 percent of their business is from food.   The proposed hours of operation for both licenses would be six am to midnight.

The Odin Board approved a $1,000 donation to the Christmas Angels program conducted by the Odin School to help low-income students during the Christmas Season.
