Diana J. Dickneite, 77, of Mount Vernon, Illinois, passed away at 10:15 a.m. November 3, 2023, at her residence. She was born November 15, 1945, in Saint Louis, Missouri to the late Andrew M. and Florence (Ledbetter) Summa. Diana married Bernard “Bernie” Alvin Dickneite on January 21, 1967, in the Presbyterian Church in Webster Groves, Missouri.

In addition to her beloved husband of nearly fifty-seven years, Diana is survived by her son, Bernard “Brad” A. Dickneite and wife, Crystal of Mount Vernon, Illinois; daughter, Andrea Barrett and husband, James of Texico, Illinois; grandchildren, Isis, Erse, Blaze, Lilly, and Malik Dickneite, Patrick, Faith, and Addyson Barrett; sister-in-law, Phyllis Summa of Saint Louis, Missouri; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Diana was preceded in death by her brothers, John and Don Summa.

Diana worked as a special education teacher throughout her life. She was of the Presbyterian faith and attended Saint Mary’s Catholic Church alongside her husband. Diana will be greatly missed.

A Visitation will be held Thursday, November 9, 2023, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Hughey Funeral Home in Mount Vernon, Illinois. A Funeral Service will begin at 1:00 p.m. with Reverend Stacy Tate officiating. Interment will follow the following day, Friday, November 10, 2023, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Paul’s Church Yard Cemetery in Afton, Missouri. Memorials may be made in Diana’s honor to the American Cancer Society, SSM Health at Home Hospice, American Diabetes Association, American Heart Association, or Alzheimer’s-Gateway in Saint Louis.
