2023 10/28 – Gary Wuebbles

Gary Wuebbles, age 78, of Beckemeyer passed away peacefully at his home on Saturday, October 21st, 2023.

He was born on September 15th, 1945 to George and Helen (Kapp) Wuebbles.  He married JoAnn “Cook’e” Garcia on June 15th, 1968 at St. Anthony’s Church in Beckemeyer and she survives.

In addition to his wife Cook’e, Gary is also survived by his daughter Michelle (Corey) Wuebbles-Nicklin along with his three grandchildren Parker, Connor and Kennedy Nicklin; his sisters – Elaine Sewell, Mary Deiters, Phyllis (Dennis) Huelsman, Denise (Rodney) Hubbard; his brothers – Doni (Ann) Wuebbles, Duane (Margie) Wuebbles, Ed (Janine) Wuebbles, Dan (Cheryl) Wuebbles and Phil Wuebbles; his brother and sister-in-law’s – Henry (Bozo) and Phyllis Garcia and Carl and Jacqueline Aarns; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister – Doris Yates; a sister-in-law – Janice Wuebbles; brothers-in-law – Olen Yates, George Sewell, and Ray Deiters; a nephew – Shawn Wuebbles; nieces–Kimberly Wuebbles and Elisha Behrmann; and his in-laws – Henry “Beans” and Gloria Garcia.

Gary was a member of St. Teresa’s Church at Marydale.  He was in the Air Force Reserves and he was an active member of the Beckemeyer American Legion Post 1227 where he served on the drill team and as Past Commander.  He was a member of the Beckemeyer Fire Department for many years.

In his spare time, Gary enjoyed spending time with his family, bowling in league, tending to his garden, taking care of his yard, cleaning his car, and going to the Legion for a few Stags with friends.

A visitation will be held at Zieren Funeral Home in Carlyle on Saturday, October 28th from 8:30 – 11:00 AM.  A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:30 A.M. on Saturday, October 28, 2023, at St. Teresa’s Church in Marydale with Father Tom Killeen, celebrant.  The Beckemeyer American Legion will provide military honors at the church following the Mass.
