Roy “Tig” Yanez, Jr., 73, of Bluford, Illinois, passed away at 8:33 a.m. October 16, 2023.
He was born February 26, 1950, in Waukegan, Illinois to the late Roy Yanez, Sr. and Freda (Roeder) Garren. Roy married Theresa (Wells) Yanez on September 25, 1968. They celebrated 55 years of marriage together.
In addition to his beloved wife, Roy is survived by his children, Troy Yanez and wife, Candace of Bluford, Lori Miller and husband, Jeremy of Bonnie, Illinois, Jason Yanez of Wayne City, Illinois, and Toni Smith of Lincoln, Illinois; grandchildren, Taylor Corbett and husband, Jacob of Bluford, Levi Aydt and special friend, Kambyl Shelton of Bluford, Kolby Yanez and special friend, Bryleigh Matthews of Bluford, Christian Yanez of Bluford, and Shelbi Yanez of Mount Vernon; great-grandchildren, River and Aubrey Corbett; and siblings, Becky Wojtowcitz and husband, Jim of DuBois, Illinois and Paul Yanez and wife, Linda of Mount Vernon.
In addition to his parents, Roy was preceded in death by his siblings, Lois Mae Dodson, Donnie Dodson, Monica Hansford, and Paula Pate; father-in-law, Gaylord “Pedad” Wells; and special friend, Gladys Mendenhall. Roy was a retired coal miner. He was a faithful member and deacon of Summersville Baptist Church, where he played guitar for the praise team. He also enjoyed driving the bus to Bluford School. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
A Visitation will be held Friday, October 20, 2023, from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Summersville Missionary Baptist Church. A Funeral Service will be held Saturday, October 21, 2023, at 10:00 a.m. with Reverend Don Verhines officiating. Interment will follow at Mount Vernon Memorial Gardens in Woodlawn, Illinois.
