Lavin Boozer, age 86, of Kell, passed away on September 26, 2023, at her home surrounded by her family.
Lavin was born near Texico on December 31, 1936, the daughter of Maxey Ayers and wife Onieta (Allen) Ayers.
On April 29, 1956, she married James Boozer at the Donoho Prairie Christian Church and they have spent the last 67 years happily married to one another. Jim survives at home. She is also survived her children: Mark Boozer and wife Denise of Kell; Bonnie Maurer and husband Martin also of Kell; and Roger Boozer and wife Elaine of Hoyleton. Lavin is also survived by 5 grandchildren: Cole, Kyle, and Chase Boozer, Jamie Smith, and Jessica Stendback, as well as 5 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by one sister: Sharon Kay Lagow and husband Norman of Texico.
She was preceded in death by a brother Bill Ayers and one grandson Dylan Boozer.
Lavin was a lifelong resident of the Kell area. In her younger life, she worked as a bookkeeper for the Kell Elevator. For 25 years she was the bookkeeper for the family business, the Boozer Limestone Service. She was the church pianist for the Donoho Prairie Christian Church. Among all her other activities she was mostly a loving wife, mother, and grandmother.
Funeral services for Lavin Boozer will be held Saturday, September 30th at 11 a.m. with Matt Renaud officiating at the Donoho Prairie Christian Church, with burial to follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held Friday from 5-8 at the Church and again Saturday from 10 a.m. until the funeral hour. For those who wish memorials may be given to either the Donoho Prairie Cemetery Fund or the Kell Fire Department and will be accepted by the L. R. Osborn and Son Funeral of Kell.
