2023 09/30 – Norma Jean Fisher

Norma Jean Fisher, 95, of Mount Vernon, passed away at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, September 13, 2023, at Mt. Vernon Countryside Manor with her family and friends by her side.

She was born on December 1, 1927, in Woodlawn, Illinois the daughter of Olaf and Nellie (Fuller) Larson. She married Walter Adams in 1943 and he preceded her in death. Norma married Donald Fisher on June 16, 1956, and he preceded her in death.

She is survived by her daughter, Linda (Adams) McCormick and husband, Floyd of Mount Vernon; sister, Marlene Wood of Wayne City; special nephew, Raymond Leneave and wife, Yvonne of Bonnie; grandchildren, Debbie Rollins and husband, Gary of Texas, Tammy Collard and husband, David of Sullivan; great-grandchildren, Bethany Kourzmanoff and husband, Adam of Champaign, Jessica Ekiss and husband, Josh of Sullivan, Michael Hendricks of Ohio, Josh Elliott of Illinois, Gabriel Claussen of Texas; four great-great-grandchildren, Dominik, Dalton, Aylana, and Anabell Ekiss of Sullivan; and nieces and nephews, Robbie Larson, Don Likens, Ronnie Likens, Davie Likens, Mary Klem, and Peggy Smith.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; sisters, Thelma Likens and Alma Wilkinson; and brother, Melvin “Buck” Larson.

She enjoyed spending time with her family and working on puzzles with her daughter. Three friends who called her mom: Beverly Fullerton, Connie Poole, and Lei Dodson. She was known for her lemon pies and angel food cake. Norma was a member of West Side Baptist Church.

A Visitation will be held on Saturday, September 30, 2023, from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Hughey Funeral Home in Mount Vernon, Illinois. A Memorial Service will begin at 12:30 p.m. She will be dearly missed. Memorials may be made in Mrs. Fisher’s honor at the West Side Baptist Church.
