2023 09/27 – Vickie Dianne Sheets

Vickie Dianne Sheets, age 73 of Carlyle, passed away at her home on Sunday, September 24, 2023.

Mrs. Sheets was born in Elizabethtown, Illinois on January 9, 1950, a daughter of the late Raymond and Ocie (née Cooksey) Seay.  She married Rick Sheets in Centralia on April 21, 1984, and he survives in Carlyle.

In addition to her husband Rick, Mrs. Sheets is also survived by a daughter – Savannah Collier (Marvin), and their children, Gavin, Parker, Daxton, and Maverick Collier, and Elliot Warden; a step-daughter – Deanna Cain (significant other, Dave Carpenter) and their children, Tyler Cain, Jordan Cain, David Carpenter, Jr., Kaylee Carpenter, Brooklynn Carpenter, and Kylie Carpenter; a brother – Chuck Seay; and her in-laws – Patsy Seay, Sandy and Donnie Maas, Cheryl Keith, Keith and Lori Sheets, Tammy and Bob Mason Kim Rhode, Kevin Sheets, and Micheal Sheets.

In addition to her parents, Vickie was preceded in death by a granddaughter – Victoria Collier; a step-son – John Bova; a brother – Donald Seay; a sister-in-law – Janet Seay; a brother-in-law – Chris Rhode; a niece – Elizabeth Seay; and a nephew – Lance Schneider.

Vickie worked as an over-the-road truck driver for many years, mainly hauling freight for UPS.  She later worked as a paraprofessional and aide for the Carlyle School District for 25 years.  Outside of work, Vickie had many passions and interests.   She loved collecting antiques and Native American jewelry.  She also found joy in Elvis Presley and Patsy Cline’s music.  Vickie had a big heart for animals, especially her Great Dane, Willow, and the horses she rode as an equestrian.  She was a gifted artist who loved sharing her talents and imagination with others.  Gardening was another one of Vickie’s passions. Her green thumb turned their backyard into a flourishing oasis filled with vibrant flowers.  Vicky and Rick danced their way through life’s joys and challenges, always supporting each other with unwavering devotion.

The funeral service will be held at Life Church in Carlyle on Wednesday, September 27, 2023, at 7:00 PM with Pastor Jason McIntosh, officiating.  Visitation will be held at Life Church on Wednesday from 4:00 – 7:00 P.M.  Expressions of sympathy in memory of Mrs. Sheets may be made to her family and will be received through Zieren Funeral Home which is in charge of arrangements.  Online condolences may be shared with the Sheets family by visiting www.ZierenFuneralHome.com.
