2023 09/25 – James Richard ‘Jim’ Dolwick

James Richard “Jim” Dolwick, 75, of Mount Vernon, Illinois, peacefully passed away with his family by his side at 3:55 a.m. September 20, 2023, at Siteman Center Parkview Place in Saint Louis, Missouri.

He was born February 20, 1948, in Youngstown, Ohio to the late Paul and Mary (Connelly) Dolwick. Jim married Jan (Montgomery) Dolwick on August 8, 1970, in Akron, Ohio. They were blessed with 53 years of marriage.

In addition to his beloved wife, Jim is survived by his daughters, Tiffany Bennett and husband, Joel of Lake in the Hills, Illinois and Amy Hayes and husband, Tommy of Mount Vernon; son, Brian Dolwick and wife, Erin of Arlington Heights, Illinois; grandchildren, Kendall Bennett, Drew Bennett, Alexys Hayes, Paetyn Neal and husband, Nate, Kennady Hayes, Mason Dolwick, and Madalyn Dolwick; great-grandchild, Sutton Elizabeth Neal; brother, Paul Dolwick and wife, Karen of Louisville, Kentucky; numerous nieces and nephews; and his two dogs, Ireland and Ruby.

In addition to his parents, Jim was preceded in death by his brothers, John Dolwick and Tim Dolwick; and sister, Marianne Lowry.

Jim proudly served his country in the United States Army in Vietnam in the National 4th Infantry where he received a bronze star. He retired in 2000 after 30 years as the plant manager at Continental Tire. Additionally, Jim was a member of Amvets and the Knights of Columbus #2964. Jim was a faithful member of Saint Mary Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. He was instrumental in overseeing the Saint Mary Church building project for the new Saint Mary Church. He was an avid fan of The Ohio State Buckeyes and loved to work in the yard. Jim was the life of the party anywhere he went. He was a loving Papa and Great-Grand Papa and will be deeply missed.

A Visitation will be held on Sunday, September 24, 2023, from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Saint Mary Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Mount Vernon. A Funeral Mass will be held on Monday, September 25, 2023, at 10:00 a.m. Inurnment will take place at Saint Mary’s Cemetery in Mount Vernon at a later date. Memorials may be made in Jim’s honor to Saint Mary Immaculate Conception Catholic Church Building Fund or the Wounded Warrior Project.
