Marion County Treasurer Gary Purcell is reminding taxpayers that the second installment of property taxes is due by Tuesday, September 27th, to avoid interest and penalties.
He reports most local banks and credit unions receive payments or payments can be paid by credit card/debit card/e-chick payments at ilmarion.com.
Payments made by mail, must be postmarked on or before September 27th to be considered on time.
The treasurer’s office at the courthouse is open from eight am to four pm to accept payments. The treasurer’s office does take credit card and debit card payments in office, but there is a 2.45-percent fee on each transaction. Also, there is a payment drop box on the west end of the courthouse for after-hours payments.
