John ‘Jack’ P. Dippold, 93, of Farina, passed away Thursday, August 24, 2023.www.sutherlandfuneralhome.com and the Sutherland Funeral Home Facebook Page.
He was born December 7, 1929, in Farina, the son of Charles Dippold and Malinda (Leonhard) Dippold. He married Jeanette May on March 31, 1953, and she survives. In addition to his wife of 70 years, Jeanette Dippold of Farina, Jack is also survived by his three children: Janet Duecker and husband Don of Taylorville, Steve Dippold and wife Linda of Farina and Carol Sporleder and husband Larry of Farina; 7 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren; sister: Anne Schultetus of Harristown; two sisters-in-law: Louise Dippold of Decatur and Beverly Brown of Casey; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents: Charles and Malinda Dippold, two brothers: Charles Dippold and James Dippold, two sisters: Doris Starkey and Carolee Reeter, and three brothers-in-law: Jack Starkey, Earl Reeter, and Roland Schultetus. Jack served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He was a lifetime farmer in the Farina area. He drove a semi for many years. Jack also worked several years at Borg-Warner in Decatur and the Clinton Power Plant in Clinton. He was a member of the Farina United Methodist Church, and the Farina American Legion. Jack cherished the time he spent with his wife, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Funeral Services for Jack Dippold will be held Saturday, September 16, 2023, at 11:00 AM at the Farina United Methodist Church with Pastor Kevin Kriesel officiating. Burial will follow at Farina Cemetery in Farina. Visitation will be held from 9:00 AM until the time of service at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Farina United Methodist Church, Farina American Legion and/or Donor’s Choice and will be accepted at the Sutherland-Rankin Funeral Home 310 North Broadway/ P.O.
