Darrel Gordon, 90, of Walnut Hill, passed away on Monday, September 11th, 2023 at HSHS St. Elizabeth’s Hospital in O’Fallon with his family by his side.
Darrel was born on May 2, 1933, in Patoka, the son of Lee Gordon and Rhoda (Bryant) Gordon. He married Patricia (Smith) Gordon on October 18th, 1958 at the 1st United Methodist Church in Centralia and she survives him.
In addition to his wife Pat of 64 years, Darrell is survived by a son Darrell Richard (Rick) Gordon and Debra of Huey, IL; daughters Michelle Owen and Alan of Hoffman, IL and Vicki Massaro and Mike of Centralia, IL; 4 grandchildren Nick Gordon and Lori of Hoffman, Elise Gordon of Huey, Bailey Mathew and John of Pineville, LA, and Alexis Owen of Sandoval IL; three great-grandchildren Hudson Foos, Jed Michael, and Sailor Matthew; three special fur babies Meekia, Gucci, and Chanel; and also several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents Lee and Rhoda, brother Gene Gordon, sister Evelyn McMeen, and a son Bradley Gordon.
Darrell served in the U.S. Army and was a member of the Masonic Lodge for over 50 years. He was also a member of Cornerstone Methodist Church in Centralia.
Private Family Services for Darrel Gordon will be held at a later date. Burial will be in Hillcrest Memorial Park in Centralia. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the Wounded Warriors Project or Southtown Shalom Food Pantry and can be accepted at Sutherland-Garnier Funeral Home at 235 North Sycamore Street, Centralia, IL 62801, who is honored to be of service to the Gordon family.
