Dorothy H. Newman, 74, of Centralia, passed away peacefully, on Thursday, September 7, 2023, at her home.
She was born September 21, 1948, in Mt. Vernon, the daughter of Orvil W. Faught and Dorothy M. (Koy) Faught. She married David O. Newman on December 21, 1966, and he survives.
In addition to her husband of 56 years, David Newman of Centralia, Dorothy is also survived by her daughter: Rebecca Dixon of Centralia; two granddaughters: Heather Dixon and Krystal Dixon both of Centralia; two great-granddaughters: Kylee Rose Atchison and Bailey Marie Atchison both of Centralia; six siblings: Eugene L. Faught of California, Mary E. Warren of Centralia, James L. Faught of Metropolis, Gary H. Faught and wife Jeanette of Rockford, Martha J. Simmons and husband Mark of Mt. Vernon, and Ralph H. Faught and wife Becky of Springfield; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents: Orvil and Dorothy Faught, four brothers: Orvil B. Faught, Paul J. Faught, Raymond D. Faught, and Daniel Wayne Faught, a sister: Loretta R. Phelps; brother-in-law: Bill Warren; and sister-in-law: LaVonne Faught.
Dorothy worked for Graphic Packaging for 35 years until her retirement. She was of the Catholic Faith. Dorothy enjoyed working in her flower garden and watching hummingbirds. She cherished the time she spent with her family and those memories will always remain her treasures.
Per Dorothy’s wishes, cremation rites will be accorded and no public services will be held.
