The city of Wamac is getting prepared for Wamacfest in the Wamac Park on Saturday, September 17th.

A recent BBQ luncheon raised $1,800 to be used towards expenses of the fest which will feature music from Joel Young during the afternoon hours and the Dr. Wobble band in the evening.   Volunteers are still needed to make cakes for the cakewalk.  Cake mixes are available at Wamac City Hall.  If you want to volunteer in some other way you may call Wamac Mayor Butch Mathis at 533-5602 or 322-4238.

The board received bids on only two vacant parcels of property.  They are at 225 East 17th and 436, 436 1/2, and 438 Wabash Avenue.

The board announced warnings were over for those who had been contacted about tall grass and citations would now be issued.

The board agreed to use federal ARPA funds to reimburse the city for payroll expenses while four employees were recently out with COVID-19.  The board also agreed to reimburse one employee $2,400 for expenses incurred in his fight against COVID.

The board also agreed to install a security camera in the city clerk’s office following some suspicious activity.
