The Marion County Sheriff’s Department reports they have now identified the owners of the two trucks and trailers that were apparently used to take cattle from a field in the 9100 block of Farthing Road in rural Vernon.
While the owners of the vehicles were not involved, information has been provided that is expected to result in the 40 cows and 38 calves being returned to the owner.
The owner reported several gates had been open and it appeared they had been removed via a trailer when he arrived to check on them in the field on Monday. He had last checked on the cows on August 18th.
More details will be released as the investigation continues.
