The Centralia City Council Monday night approved a Planning and Zoning Commission recommendation to allow front yard fences in some cases.
City Manager Kory Smith says the planning commission found some instances where the fences should be allowed.
“Will allow fences between 4-8 feet to be erected, but Planning & Zoning will hold a little power to determine if there is a safety issue dealing with the height of the fence. So one thing that we really looked at is making sure this fence didn’t protrude out too far preventing motorists from seeing yield or stop signs.”
Smith says requests for front yard fencing will go to the planning commission for review and a final decision.
