Richard “Bud” Wesling, age 73, of Salem, passed away on Saturday, August 19, 2023, at Barnes Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, MO.
Bud was born on December 15, 1949, the son of Hank and Mary Wesling. Survivors include his loving wife Nancy, mothers in law, Ruth Carpenter of Mt. Vernon and Naomi Russell of Salem. He is also survived by his daughter Melynda Breeze and husband Adam of Mt. Vernon; Daughter Becky Wesling of Odin; Daughter Shannon Nolte and husband Scott of College Station, Tx; Daughter Shelli McIntosh and husband Bryan of Salem; Son Shane Garrison and wife Denise of Salem. 15 grandkids and 5 great-grandchildren.
Bud married Bess Carpenter and she proceeded him in death along with his parents, Hank & Mary Wesling, sister Marilyn Littrell, and son Rick Wesling.
Many will remember Bud as the owner of the Smokehouse in Sandoval. He worked many years at All Type Containers in St. Louis and retired from Butler Electric Supply in Centralia. He was a faithful member of Freedom Church in Salem. He loved watching the STL Cardinals play baseball, he took pride in making his own barbeque sauce and smoking meat. He cherished his grandkids and family.
Friends and family are encouraged to join at Freedom Church, 1443 W. Whittaker in Salem, for a Celebration of Life service on Wednesday, August 23rd. Visitation 4-6 pm with service at 6 pm. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Freedom Church in Bud’s memory.
